Grace Forge Blacksmithing Workshops

Come and spend a day learning key elements of Blacksmithing skills in the beautiful and historic grounds of Brougham Hall.

We begin in the morning with cold forging copper wrist bands and pendants. You will learn hammering techniques and how to use the anvil to shape and draw out metal.

We then use metal letter and number stamps to personalise your work.

We end the morning filing and sanding to create the finished quality product.

We light the forge then head for lunch while it heats up. there is a cafe on site or you can bring a packed lunch.

For the afternoon session we focus on hot forge work. You will learn how to use tongs to pick up your steel, how to draw out and taper hot metal and how to shape around the anvil.

We make either a coat hook, garden lantern holder or fire poker. We add a river twist and coat in beeswax for a beautiful finish.
